Tibetan in Sweden

Tibetan nomads have lived in Tibet since the second century B.C. Their civilization began near the Yarlung Zanbo River. Their tradition states that the union of a monkey and a she-devil created the Tibetan race. Buddhism eventually took over the previous religion, Bon, and their main spiritual leader is the Dalai Lama.

Their language is a Sino-Tibetan language that has multiple dialects, and many also speak Chinese. Tibetans are found in ten different countries with most living in the region of Tibet. Approximately 1000 live in Sweden.

Partnership // Move Beyond
  • The Christian and Buddhist mindset are immensely different, pray the Holy Spirit would guide believers to have fruitful conversations with Buddhist Tibetans in Sweden.
  • Pray for the hearts of Tibetans, that they would be softened to hear the gospel and be receptive to the message.
  • As churches in Sweden extend love and compassion to Tibetan communities, pray that God’s love would call Tibetans to Him.
