About 95 percent of Thai are Buddhist, and most Muslims in Thailand come from Malaysia, China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Cambodia. Most Thai Muslims live in southern Thailand, but many ethnic Thai Muslims live in Central Thailand. Unlike the Malay who are born into Islam, many ethnic Thai Muslims have either married with other communities or recently converted to Islam.
Engagement // What’s Happening Now
Asia Pacific Media is a media ministry based in the Philippines and has projects broadcasted throughout Asia Pacific and the Middle East. They are working on a movie for Southeast Asian Muslims and will be translated into Thai. Pray this video will lead Thai Muslims to Christ.
Sustainability // The Bigger Story
The Asia Pacific Student Abroad Initiative (APSAI) is a study abroad program based in Bangkok. APSAI invites Assemblies of God USA university students to continue their education while doing ministry in an Asian context. They work with local Assemblies of God churches and para-church ministries to reach Thai people. Pray this program inspires students to serve in missions and grow a passion to reach the unreached in Thailand.
Partnership // Move Beyond
Please spend a few minutes in prayer for:
- Pray for the local church in Central Thailand, that God will use them mightily to proclaim his gospel to the Thai Muslims in their community.
- Pray God calls more workers to plant churches in Thailand.
- Pray Thai Muslims would be open and responsive to the gospel.
