Pashtun society is communal. Families dwell together and live in fortified residences called qalas. The Pashtun live by a code of ethics known as Pushtunwali, which emphasizes hospitality, bravery, and steadfastness. Most of the Pashtun are very devout followers of Islam.
Engagement // What’s Happening Now
The Pashtun way of life is opposed to change. To successfully reach this large people group with the gospel, workers will need to rely on the Spirit for direction and creativity to reach them.

Sustainability // The Bigger Story
The Bible is available in the Pashtun language, but few people have access to printed Bibles. For new communities of believers, the most effective way to reach the Pashtun is to train leaders who are familiar with the cultural norms among the Pashtun.
Partnership // Move Beyond
Please spend a few minutes in prayer for:
- Pray for God to give the Pashtun people visions and dreams of Jesus.
- Pray for more workers to be called to live among the Pashtun.
- Pray for Pashtun in countries where there is more access to the Gospel, that they may be receptive to the message and share it in their native lands.
- Pray for the few Pashtun believers, that they may be strengthened and emboldened
