Cypriots, Turkish in United Kingdom

Turkish Cypriots are from the Island of Cyprus, south of Turkey. They descend from the Turkish Ottoman invaders who came to Cyprus in the sixteenth century. They continue to follow Turkish customs and traditions, as well as speak their language.

In the past few years, over 36,000 Turkish Cypriots have emigrated from their homeland and many live in the United Kingdom and the United States. Most Turkish Cypriots are devout Muslims.

Sustainability // The Bigger Story

There are currently 559 churches and 56,000 members and adherents in the Assemblies of God Great Britain. Over the past decade, millions of Muslims have immigrated to Europe and there is a great task for the church to minister to these people. Pray for the Assemblies of God Great Britain, as they open their doors and extend love and grace to Muslims.

Readers, Writers, and Speakers

Global Initiative seeks to bring awareness to the need to reach Muslims. They also equip Christians with the tools and knowledge as to how to reach Muslims. On the resources tab of the Global Initiative website, there are several cheap or free resources for Christians to use, such as Sharing Your Faith With Muslims, Responding to Muslims, and What Christians Need To Know About Muslims.

Partnership // Move Beyond
  • Pray the hearts of Turkish Cypriots will be open to receive the gospel.
  • Pray the Holy Spirit imparts wisdom and understanding on churches and missionaries who reach out to them.
  • Pray for prayer teams that will dedicate time to pray for Turkish Cypriots.
  • Pray God gives strength and courage to the few Christian Turkish Cypriots there are.
