Comorian, Ngazidja

Comoros is an island nation in the Indian Ocean, located between Madagascar and Mozambique. About 750,000 people, known as Comorians, live on the four islands of Comoros, and 98 percent of them are devout followers of Islam.

Sustainability // The Bigger Story

Workers are currently living and ministering among Muslim Comorians. Pray for wisdom and guidance as they spread the gospel among this unreached people group.

Partnership // Move Beyond

— Pray that this island nation, which is closed to the gospel, would become open as a result of Christians’ creative efforts to access this unreached people group.

Comoros is one of the world’s poorest nations, with 60 percent of people living below the national poverty line. Eighty percent of the population works in agriculture, fishing and forestry. Allow God’s Spirit to move in you on behalf of the poor in Comoros. Take a moment to pray and consider how you might use your skills and knowledge to help reach the Comorian people.

Readers, Writers, and Speakers

Freedom of religion is allowed by the constitution. However, it is illegal for a Muslim to convert to Christianity, and converts are occasionally prosecuted. In many areas, Christians experience societal discrimination. Proselytizing any religion except Islam is not allowed.

Problem Solvers

Few doctors and hospitals are available on the islands, so people often suffer from preventable diseases. Health-related issues caused by contaminated water are common. Pray that believers would have the courage and creativity to address the problems.
