Numbering 2,492,000 in population, the Berber, Shawiya are a nomadic people group who predominantly find their home in the Atlas Mountains. Many are Sunni Muslims, but they are passionate about their pre-Islamic culture and are devoted to the preservation of their Berber identity.

Engagement // What’s Happening Now

The Berber, Shawiya of Algeria are culturally and geographically separated from any Christian engagement. Being 100% Islamic and completely unreached, the religious and culture climate inhibits the spreading of the Gospel. Pray for the Berber, Shawiya and that the Holy spirit would begin to move in the lives of the people.

Sustainability // The Bigger Story

The Berber, Shawiya spread out across several countries in Eurasia and Europe. They are concentrated in Algeria, but have their presence in countries such as France, Germany, Italy, Morocco, and Belgium.

Partnership // Move Beyond

Our prayer is that God would open doors and opportunities for the Gospel to reach the Berber, Shawiya.

Entrepreneurs: The Protestant Church of Algeria is making great strides to maintain their presence in Algeria. Pray for their safety, and that God may use them to spread the Gospel in the country.

Readers, Writers, Speakers: There are no translations of a Bible in Tachawit. But Wycliffe has produced a Jesus film and an audio version in their language. Pray that these resources may reach these people, and that a Bible will be translated into their language.

Problem Solvers: Significant barriers still exist against the Gospel to the Berber, Shawiya. Pray that God would open doors for AG ministries. Pray specifically for the Berber, Shawiya people that they may know the good news of Jesus Christ.
