The Syrian Arabs are part of the larger Levant Arab people cluster. The Levant Arabs spread across 36 countries and number over 15 million. In Jordan there are 383,000 Syrian Arabs, most of who are practicing Shiite Muslims. Being on the Arabian Peninsula, they are highly influenced by Arab culture, and Islam is a foundational part of their society. They primarily live in villages along the foothills of mountains or fertile regions. They maintain a tribal culture which is based on Islamic principles. Social life is important to their society, and they are known for their hospitality.
Engagement // What’s Happening Now
Though the majority of the population in Jordan is Muslim, the good news is that God is moving in Jordan and in Muslim communities such as the Syrian Arabs regardless. He is speaking to people through dreams, visions, and other Christians.
Pray for the hearts of the people as God moves in the Syrian Arab communities.Sustainability // The Bigger Story
The Syrian Arab population extends from the Arabian Peninsula to other parts of Eurasia, Africa, Europe, and even as far as South and North America. Though the Christian presence in these places is small, God is doing a great work in their communities. Pray for support and encouragement for Syrian Arab Christians and those who minister in their communities.Partnership // Move Beyond
