Arab, Libyan in Libya

The country of Libya is situated in between Algeria and Egypt. The country is mostly desert or semi-desert and most of the population are Libyan Arabs or Arabized Berbers. Once the country discovered oil in the 1950s the way of life of most people changed from nomadic to urban.

Many of their practices are influenced by Islam. When men and women gather, they remain separate, women dress modestly, polygamy is permitted. The country was once Christian, but most today do not know Christian beliefs, and they are one of the most unreached people groups in the world.

Partnership // Move Beyond
  • Pray for the opportunities and open doors to share the gospel to Libyan Arabs.
  • Arab Libyans can be found in other countries where the gospel is more accessible such as the United States, Canada, Belgium, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. Pray that God would orchestrate opportunities for the gospel to reach Libyan Arabs in other countries.
  • Consider joining the Pray4Libya community to stay up to date with prayer requests and news concerning Libya.
