Arab, Cyrenaican of Libya

Cyrenaica is the eastern coastal region of Libya. The name derives from the city Cyrene. It was once heavily colonized by Greeks and was conquered by Alexander the Great. It also came under the rule of several empires, such as the Romans, Ottomans, and Italians. Arabs came in 643/44 and brought Islam to the region. Almost all 1.6 million Cyrenaican Arabs are Muslim.

Partnership // Move Beyond
  • Pray for Libyan Christians, that God will provide opportunities for them to minister to Cyrenaican Arabs.
  • Pray for spiritual freedom from Islam, that they may walk in the light.
  • Pray God sends more workers to serve in Arab countries.

“What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? (Matthew 18:12, NIV).
