Arab-all in Portugal

There are only two Arab groups in Portugal: Lebanese and Maghrebi. The Lebanese are from the Levant region of the Arab world. They were originally Aramaic speakers and practiced Canaanite culture until accepting Islam and eventually speaking Arabic. The Maghrebi Arabs are ancestors of the Moroccan Arabs, and 18 million live in Morocco. All Arabs share the Arab cultural heritage, Arabic language, and adherence to Islam.

Engagement // What’s Happening Now

Randy Hurst writes in the article “Loving and Reaching Muslims in Europe,” “The current Muslim population of Europe is estimated to be almost 30 million. Many researchers expect that number to continue to grow, but any projections are largely speculative. What is clear is that tens of millions are already here and need the gospel.” Pray for churches in Portugal, that they would reach out to Muslims in their communities.

Sustainability // The Bigger Story

There are over 250 million Arabs around the world. Pray for ministries such as Live Dead, Global Initiative, Say Hello, and other ministries working to reach Arab people groups.

Partnership // Move Beyond
  • Pray for AG churches in Portugal, that they would be used to reach Arabs in their country.
  • Pray God reveals himself to them in dreams and visions.
  • Pray God will soften their hearts to receive the gospel.
