Adyghe in Jordan

The Adyghe are a Circassian people group which are the oldest people group of Northwest Caucasus. Originally from the Northwest Caucasus, in the nineteenth century there was a mass exodus of one and a half million Circassians to Turkey, other Ottoman territories, and the Middle East. They maintain their culture and customs through dances and stories. Many of Adyghe in Jordan have adopted Arabic and have a sense of belonging in Jordan and in the Caucasus.
